Rihanna Covers Rolling Stone Magazine

Talent, Beauty, and Brains....do you see why I loveee her!!
In this incredible issue of Rolling Stones, Rihanna opens up about her troublesome upbringing, the highly publicized Rihanna/Chris Brown domestic dispute, and why she decided to ease the restraining order between the two.

Here's an inside look at the photoshoot:

Excerpts:

"[Chris Brown and I] don't have to talk again ever in my life. I just didn't want to make it more difficult for him professionally. What he did to me was a personal thing – it had nothing to do with his career. Saying he has to be a hundred feet away from me, he can't perform at awards shows – that definitely made it difficult for him. That was the only thing it was going to change, so I didn't care. But you can never please people. One minute I'm being too hard, and the next minute I'm a fool because I'm not being hard enough."

Rihanna says that if it weren't for singing she might have been a psychologist, and she certainly has a deep sense of empathy. "I actually feel really bad for my father," she says. He was abused too – he got beat up by his stepdad when he was young. He has resentment toward women, because he felt like his mom never protected him, and unfortunately, my mother was the victim of that. I'm not giving him excuses. Right is right and wrong is wrong. I still blame him. But I understand the source."

"I like to take charge, but I love to be submissive," she says. "Being submissive in the bedroom is really fun. You get to be a little lady, to have somebody be macho and in charge of your shit. That's sexy to me. I work a lot, and I have to make a lot of executive decisions, so when it comes to being intimate, I like to feel like I'm somebody's girl."

She loves going to the grocery store and cooking for herself; enjoys a nice chardonnay at the end of the day; forgoes weed (or at least claims to); and has a killer story about getting blackout drunk on bathtub moonshine while on vacation in Mexico. She digs true-crime reality shows like Beyond Scared Straight and Snapped ("about women who snap"), and she says the last book she read was called Mafia Princess. She's also chronically late and doesn't have a driver's license, but otherwise is as down-to-earth and un-diva-like as anyone with 1,500 pairs of shoes can be.

Chris Brown- "Beautiful People" Video

I'm in love with this video and song!! I played it back to back like 5 times. Not only does it have a good message (you know I'm a sucker for a song w/ a message) but the video is hilarious/cute AND its another dance record that everyone's going to love.
I also love when artists have other artist cameos in their videos...it's just cool to see who they know #random.

The parts with Chris and T-Pain had me dying! I really think this album is going to help put Chris back on top...can you say #Comeback???

Sidebar:
I don't know why I'm just now hearing this song/seeing this video but i like it. I've never heard of Chipmunk but I'll def look into him. Love supporting up and coming artists...everybody needs love :D

Selena Gomez- "Who Says" Video

This song is kinda cute. I'm a sucker for songs that make you feel better about yourself, songs that deliver messages to the heart*

Racism Hits the Billboards

Wow!
So a Texas based Pro-Life organization debuted a blatantly racist billboard in SoHo (NYC), that was thankfully taken down the next day due to outraged citizens and protestors. The group that sponsors the ad says the billboard was strictly created to raise awareness for Planned Parenthood, especially in minority communites.
The mother of the 6 year old girl in the ad wasn't even aware of it until friends pointed it out. You can imagine her outrage.

This is so ridiculous! The organization could have thought of a less offensive way to get their point across, like post the statistic on the billboard or something of that nature. But as I think about it, would the message have really gotten across if they didn't do it this way? I'm more mad at the slogan than the actual billboard. Statistics do show that African-American women do have a high abortion rate and we should take responsibility for it, but in order to reach a group of people about a cause it's better to make them understand than anger them.

Also, they should create ads including different races of children or no children at all because at the end of the day women of all cultures get abortions...it's life.

Well I don't want to go on a rant about it, but I do have a lot more to say lol. Here are some more racist pro-life ads

Travis Porter- "Bring it Back" Video

So I'm still a new Travis Porter fan and wasn't really on his wave til I heard "Make it Rain", but I have to say he does know how to make a party record. I need to update my library with some of his tracks because I heard a lot of good things about him but I need to judge for myself and I definitely can't base his skills off of these two songs...

Someone's looking dapper, no?

I'm really glad Chris Brown is getting exposure after the horrendous domestic violence dispute. Being a faithful Chris Brown AND Rihanna fan, I couldn't help but stay a true fan to both of them. Yes he was EXTREMELY wrong for what he did but it's over now and they've both moved on. I've forgiven but not forgotten and that's what the rest of the public should do. Rihanna has.

If you guys remember, right after the incident happend he was being dropped instantly by endorsement deals, radios, music television stations, etc., but now he's back and ready to earn his respect that. Honestly, I ain't mad at him.

I swear I love everything she does...#TeamRihanna lol

Jim Jones "Perfect Day" Video

Well this is definitely a different Jimmy than I'm use to listening to but I kinda like it. The lyrics are a little simple, but the reasoning for the song is really sweet. The world of Hip Hop is changing for the better. My ears are smiling hearing more and more artists talk about something other than killing and sex. I like songs with meaning. Now although the lyrics don't add a lot of meaning to the purpose of the song, I still appreciate the basis of the video. Cute and catchy song*

Chris Brown ft. Busta Rhymes & Lil Wayne- "Look at Me Now" Video

I love this video. When it comes to Rihanna and Chris Brown I can't help but show some bais towards whatever they do, but I genuinely love this video. The concept is simple but the animation, fashion and energy of the video are DOPE!
I love that no matter what type of song he's performing, he always finds a way to incorporate dancing in his videos. He stays true to what he knows.

Chris Brown's F.A.M.E album drops this coming Tuesday (3.22.11)
I CANT WAIT!

So baby why are we at war?

Blahh!
Have you ever felt sad or guilty after an argument or fight?

Well this time I do. Babe and I got into a heated argument over something so petty and ridiculous. Now, I don't feel like I was wrong in this situation but I started feeling really guilty and sad when I saw babe's face when I wouldn't respond or talk it out.
Babe is not a person who cries, but when I saw those tears...I honestly felt like shit but for some reason I couldn't put my stubborness aside and drop it...and I regret it :(
Have you ever been in a situation where you knew you should "back down" or just "let it go", but you were just so upset that you couldn't?

So now I'm trying to figure out how I can put that smile that I love so much back on babe's face! With my relationship I don't like our arguments/fights going past 1 day...
"Why we gotta argue? Why we gotta fight? I just want to love you...I wanna make it right. It's like we both forgot what we were fighting for...So baby why are we at war?"- Wale "The War"

Wisdom Wednesday

Hey everyone!

Today was a very enlightening and progressive day for me. I finished my second to last midterm today and I think I did really well. Also, I went to an event where a panel of African-American journalists came to speak to us about the "ins and outs" of the journalism field. It feels very inspiring to see people that look like me in successful journalism positions...it gives me great hope. You could clearly here the determination and glee in their voices as they talked about their careers and what it took for them to get there.
I can't wait to graduate and make my dreams a reality. I have a great support system and I'm very determined so there's NO way I'm giving up on my dream.

For those of you who plan on entering the journalism field, keep on writing! You can't expect to be a wallflower and get noticed by these companies. You can't be afraid to put yourself outhere. The world of journalism has changed greatly and they are strongly encouraging multimedia journalism. So if your a blogger, stick with it and perfect...make it yours! Join your school newspaper, radio/tv station, or hey create your own. EVERYTHING counts!

I want to encourage all of you dreamers out there to pursue your dreams. Anything is possible as long as you believe in yourself. I don't mean to sound cliche but its true. How do you expect others believe in you if you don't believe in yourself?
Stay True to Yourself!
I believe in you :)
