Video Fab: Beyonce "1+1"

Umm does she look beautiful or what?
Her album is amazing and this video, in all its simplicity, is great.
The kaleidoscope effect mixed with a sort of  D'Angelo"Untitled" theme was an interesting combination and definitely not what I expected. I expected a more intimate setting, like her "Halo" video but Beyonce is not the predictable type.
I really hope "Party" is the next video she drops because that song is banger!!

Video Fab: Chris Brown- "I Should've Kissed You"

He finally made a video for my favorite song off the album (F.A.M.E)!! Like "Marvin's Room", I expected so much more in the video for such a beautiful song. Atleast a love interest or something BUT he made up for it by being shirtless throughout the WHOLE video...yummy!

Video Fab: Drake- "Marvin's Room"

Drake'>http://vimeo.com/25695775">Drake ~ Marvins Room (Official Video) from OctobersVeryOwnhttp://vimeo.com/user7573504">OctobersVeryOwn> on Vimeo.http://vimeo.com">Vimeo.>
I was expecting so much more. I love this song and the remixes are just as good (Check out JoJo, Teyana Taylor, & Chris Brown's), but this video is doing nothing for me. He could have went about it in so many ways and yet he chose the most dreary one. Oh well, I still get to look at his yummy face and sing obnoxiously to the song over and over. Sigh...he does need to cut his hair though...not feeling it.

Beyonce- "Best Thing I Never Had" Video

She looks beautiful as usual. The concept of the video is very simple yet tells so much. Does the video make anyone else anxious to see her and Jay's future babies? I know I am. Her new album 4 is amazing. To be honest there was some doubt in my mind about her new sound but it just proves that Bey can pull anything off.
Buy her album....its a must have!

This made me appreciate her even more...

Gay Marriage hits NY!!

On June 24th, the senate passed the Gay Marriage Bill (33-29) which will be officially put into affect July 24, 2011.
This is a phenomenal accomplishement in gay rights. I was so shocked when the bill did not get passed in California but there was no doubt in my mind that New York would pass it.

You all already know how I feel about gay rights so I'm not going to go on another rant about it, but I'm just really excited and happy for everyone who this will positively effect. As far as the negative, we all know the major issue is religion but when it comes down to it "God loves ALL his children". God doesn't hate the sinner but the sin.

Marriage should be for everyone so let's go fall in love!

Happy Birthday Tupac!!

Tupac Shakur would be 40 today!
(June 16, 1971 - September 13, 1996)

(that smile melts my heart)

Words can't describe how much this man influenced not only Hip Hop but my life. Tupac Amaru Shakur was a rapper, lyricist, poet, actor, activist, and revolutionary. Although the 1980s get all the praise, I believe the 90s were some of the best years in terms of entertainment. Since I grew up in the 90s, I'm an expert ;) When it comes to music Tupac or 2pac was definitely the one to listen to...unless you fell into the pointless Eastcoast vs Westcoast beef. WAKE UP...its ok to like BOTH Tupac and Biggie!

His music had a way to speak to you. Although he spoke of the streets, people from all walks of life (including me from the suburbs) could easily relate to his songs. He offered a voice to Black youth...scratch that Black people in general. It's honestly a breath of fresh air when an artists comes out speaking of more than drugs, sex and violence. Not to say that Tupac didn't speak of these things, but he also spoke of poverty, unity, overcoming obstacles, pure love for women...especially his mom, and much more.

Feel Good Music...
California Love: This song still gets me hype to this day. Summer time is the perfect time to blast this song through your speakers. It made you wish you were from Cali. One of the many hot records produced after joining Death Row Records.
I Get Around: It was no lie that Tupac knew how to have a good time. His smile made him so loveable and his personality surpassed the bit of negativity that surrounded him. This was his plea to women letting them know monogamy is a foreign word to him...lol.

Everthing's going to be ok...
Keep Ya Head Up: a woman's anthem.period
Until the End of Time: Staying true to yourself
Changes: Hip Hop meets Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On". There was and still is so much cruelty and hatred in the world...something needs to change. He understood the Black struggle and wanted to lend a voice, saying everything will soon get better.

There are so many beautiful, wonderful, feel-good songs this man has created...the list goes on and on.

I would love to have just one conversation with him. It would probably last for hours because this man is so deep and in tune with the world around him.

Rest in Peace...and again HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

p.s who ever this is claiming to have shot Tupac is an asshole
