Gay Marriage hits NY!!

On June 24th, the senate passed the Gay Marriage Bill (33-29) which will be officially put into affect July 24, 2011.
This is a phenomenal accomplishement in gay rights. I was so shocked when the bill did not get passed in California but there was no doubt in my mind that New York would pass it.

You all already know how I feel about gay rights so I'm not going to go on another rant about it, but I'm just really excited and happy for everyone who this will positively effect. As far as the negative, we all know the major issue is religion but when it comes down to it "God loves ALL his children". God doesn't hate the sinner but the sin.

Marriage should be for everyone so let's go fall in love!

Happy Birthday Tupac!!

Tupac Shakur would be 40 today!
(June 16, 1971 - September 13, 1996)

(that smile melts my heart)

Words can't describe how much this man influenced not only Hip Hop but my life. Tupac Amaru Shakur was a rapper, lyricist, poet, actor, activist, and revolutionary. Although the 1980s get all the praise, I believe the 90s were some of the best years in terms of entertainment. Since I grew up in the 90s, I'm an expert ;) When it comes to music Tupac or 2pac was definitely the one to listen to...unless you fell into the pointless Eastcoast vs Westcoast beef. WAKE UP...its ok to like BOTH Tupac and Biggie!

His music had a way to speak to you. Although he spoke of the streets, people from all walks of life (including me from the suburbs) could easily relate to his songs. He offered a voice to Black youth...scratch that Black people in general. It's honestly a breath of fresh air when an artists comes out speaking of more than drugs, sex and violence. Not to say that Tupac didn't speak of these things, but he also spoke of poverty, unity, overcoming obstacles, pure love for women...especially his mom, and much more.

Feel Good Music...
California Love: This song still gets me hype to this day. Summer time is the perfect time to blast this song through your speakers. It made you wish you were from Cali. One of the many hot records produced after joining Death Row Records.
I Get Around: It was no lie that Tupac knew how to have a good time. His smile made him so loveable and his personality surpassed the bit of negativity that surrounded him. This was his plea to women letting them know monogamy is a foreign word to him...lol.

Everthing's going to be ok...
Keep Ya Head Up: a woman's anthem.period
Until the End of Time: Staying true to yourself
Changes: Hip Hop meets Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On". There was and still is so much cruelty and hatred in the world...something needs to change. He understood the Black struggle and wanted to lend a voice, saying everything will soon get better.

There are so many beautiful, wonderful, feel-good songs this man has created...the list goes on and on.

I would love to have just one conversation with him. It would probably last for hours because this man is so deep and in tune with the world around him.

Rest in Peace...and again HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

p.s who ever this is claiming to have shot Tupac is an asshole

Artist Spotlight: The Weekend

The Weekend drops two new tracks!

Abel Tesfaye, singer, songwriter, and front man of The Weekend, is amazing to say the least. The Toronto based artist is on the verge of a new idiosyncratic form of R&B. He's also not bad on the eyes either. Thanks to friend and fellowToronto based rapper, Drake, for tweeting a lyric from one of his songs, The Weekend has been receiving a lot of praise.

Why The Weekend? Forget about blunt sexual lyrics, Abel Tesfaye sings to women about their needs. Yearning to feel their touch and understanding their need to just be held. Does he still talk about sex? Of course he's only human, but the way he goes about it is like no other. He looks to explore women; their mind, body and soul. Musiq Soulchild meets Trey Songz.

The most recent mixtape, House of Balloons, which dropped March 21, 2011 is gaining an immense amount of popularity and has been in deep rotation on my Ipod for two months. Please check it out...my favorite song is "Wicked Games".

The nine song mixtape is actually one of a 3-part trilogy. Following House of Balloons will be Thursday (dropping this summer) and Echoes of Silence (dropping in the fall).  His recently released tracks"Rolling Stone" and "The Birds" will be on his Thursday LP. Canada has really bringing the fire and the sexy lately.

While You Lookin Bitter...I'll Be Looking Better

Kreayshawn gets signed to Columbia!

White Girl Mafia
(Kreayshawn, Lil Debbie, VNasty)

Real name, Natassia Zolot, Kreayshawn aka "the based goddess", has been creating a buzz lately. The Cali based rapper spits about weed, parties, violence and women. There's not much I can say about her, because I'm still trying to figure her out. Can't say if I love her or hate her...I love her style though. Her rhymes are kind of comedic and watching her in videos makes it hard to take her seriously but her "Gucci Gucci" single will definitely get stuck in your head. "Gucci Gucci, Loui Loui, Fendi Fendi, Prada...basic bitches wear that shit so I don't even bother" LOL.

Check out VNasty too, she can spit something lite

Video Fab: Tyler the Creator ft. Frank Ocean- She

Front man of OFWGKTA (Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All or Odd Future ), Tyler the Creator, has released his latest video "She". I've listen to a few odd future songs, mostly Tyler the Creator, and they're iight. Still figuring them out for myself, I'm not just going to jump on the band wagon and act like im their biggest fan...but so far they're ok. They're lyrics can be a bit crazy but sometimes in good taste.

Literary Lust: Zoe Kravitz does ASOS Mag

So one of my fashion icons is making another magazine cover appearance. Zoe Kravitz and all her beauty is covering Asos Magazine (if you don't know about Asos clothing and accessories you've been living under a rock).
I love Zoe! For one, do you know who her parents are? Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz= Sexyness in a bottle...shake it up and you get Zoe. She's herself...her own person and she never let her last name define her. She made a name for herself and even has her own band, Elevator Fight. Zoe has created her own identity and set forth her own path: actress, musician, model.

ASOS Mag:

Upcoming Projects:
Zoe Kravitz is starring in this gritty independent film called, Yelling at the Sky, also starring Gabourey Sidibe and Victoria Mahoney.

Snap Back into Fashion

Snapbacks are Back!

Although snapbacks have been around for quite awhile (I still have one left in my closet), they have instantaneously made a comeback in youth fashion ever since Lil Wayne and Chris Brown were seen wearing Adidas Snapbacks at Summer Jam '11. Snapbacks were big in the 80s and I love seeing vintage fashion trends make it to the present.

For those who don't know the difference it's pretty simple:
Fitted Cap- Fitted by size of head size

Snapback Cap- adjustable size cap that literally snaps into place

I personally love a man in a hat...hey girls in hats are sexy too lol.

Yummy ;)
Prepare for a snapback takeover...lol*

Who Run The World: Bey

Beyonce is DOMINATING the entertainment game right now!
With leaked songs from her much anticipated 4 album dropping like every week, Beyonce is one name your bound to hear when talking about entertainment. Please check out the fabness thats leaking through my radio speakers: "Party"- Beyonce ft. Andre 3000; "1+1"; "Best Thing I Never Had"; "I Care".  But did I also mention she's covering several July magazine issues. This is going to be a huge summer for Beyonce and I can't wait to get my hands on her album June 28th. From  listening to these leaked tracks, it definitely sounds like a different pace for Bey...more relaxed and intimate. Although she has already received rave reviews from leading music critics, I'm still very curious to see how her first un-fatherly managed album will do (for those that don't know, Bey's father is no longer her manager).

Mag Covers:

Album Preview via JustJared:
SONG #1 - TILL THE END OF TIME ———- Part of the song has already leaked on YouTube. “The bass line was inspired by [Nigerian musician and composer] Fela Kuti,” Beyonce shared with JustJared.com as she addressed the room. “It’s my nephew Julez’s favorite song.” (JJ Tidbit: Jay-Z produced the Broadway musical Fela! about the late Nigerian singer.)
Here are some sample lyrics: “I wanna love you so (hit me)/ I will be the one to kiss you at night… Come on take my hand/ I won’t let you go/ I’ll be your friend/ I will love you so… Turn your rain into sun… Say you’ll never let me go.”
SONG #2 - BEST THING I NEVER HAD ———- This mid-tempo song has lots of drums much like “Run The World.” “Babyface wrote the song,” Beyonce told JustJared.com. The track is about karma and revenge and kicks off with, “What goes around comes back around.” Some key phrases from the song include, “Best thing I’ve ever had” and “Best thing you’ve never had.” The best line in the song goes, “You showed your ass, baby I saw the real you.” The song closes with, “Sucks to be you right now.”
SONG #3 - I CARE ———- This ballad is moody and dark. It’s a song that will really sit with you, rather than be an instant smash hit. One fan asked Beyonce if she was crying at the beginning of the song because it sounded like she was. “Almost,” she responded. “I was on the verge.”
Jeff Bhasker penned this song, Beyonce confirmed. “It’s one of my favorite songs [off of the album],” she said.
Some sample lyrics: “I told you how you hurt me/ I’m crying and deserted but you don’t care/ Nobody told me this is love/ You’re immune to all my pain/ This is love but that’s okay… But I care/ I know you don’t care too much/ But I still care.”
SONG #4 - COUNTDOWN ———- This track starts off the lyrics “killing me softly” and samples Boyz II Men’s “Uhh Ahh.” Beyonce uses the countdown and sings between each decremental number, “10, 9, 8…”
“Boyz II Men were the first ones to put Destiny’s Child on tour,” Beyonce told JustJared.com as she addressed the room. “They showed us how to treat an opening act and I will never forget that. That was 15 years ago! Wow, 15 years! (laughs) I’m old.”
Some sample lyrics: “Dedicated to the one I love… diamonds in that chain… Riding that pony.. showing him how you ride… If you leave me, you’re out of your mind. London, speed it up. Houston, rock it.”
What did Jay-Z think of this song? “He liked it,” Beyonce told JustJared.com. “I don’t think he was dissecting it, just thinking of what he could do to it as a rapper.”

SONG #5 - 1 + 1 ———- Beyonce had the lights turned down for this beautiful ballad. Here’s how the song starts: “If I ain’t got nothing, I got you/ If I ain’t got something, I don’t give a damn/Because I got…”
“I don’t know much about algebra but one plus one is two,” she croons. “He ain’t got nothing but love. Darling, you got enough for the both of us. Make love when my days look low, pull me in close.”
“RUN THE WORLD (GIRLS)” VIDEO ———- It’s everything we hoped it would be - amazing! (Watch the 60-second “Run The World” teaser.)
The video starts and ends with Beyonce riding her horse, except there’s fire involved in the closing scene. A lion walks into one of the dance numbers and Beyonce has two giant hyenas on leashes in another scene.
The room went crazy during two parts of the song. The first was when Beyonce sings “eff you” and gives the middle finger (albeit pixelated with a censor). The second was when Beyonce is on her knees, bent backwards, and writhing around in the sand. It’s reminiscent of the sand dance sequence in her “Baby Boy” video.

The dance sequences were choreographed by her longtime friend Frank Gatson with help from Sheryl Murakami and Mozambican kwaito dance group Tofo Tofo. Beyonce had scoured the Internet and discovered Tofo Tofo on YouTube. The funny thing is they had no idea who Beyonce was when she reached out to them! (Tofo Tofo gets down with Beyonce in a few of the dance numbers.)

#Pow Beyonce Takeover!
Please check out her leaked songs and grab these magazine issues

Video Fab: Katy Perry- Last Friday Night (TGIF)

This video is hilarious!! Throwing Rebecca Black and all my Glee stars made it just as good. The 80s house party theme definitely makes me want to have a party...Give me Katy Perry's outfit please!!
"Last Friday Night" is a fun song to listen to on your way to a party. Simple lyrics but still catchy. I commend Katy Perry, because honestly I thought she was going to be a one hit wonder (I know I'm not the only one), but she's actually making a big name for herself and has gathered a major fan base, myself included.

What do you think Dreamers??

Happy 25th Birthday Mary-Kate & Ashley!!

They grow up so fast...lol

So I've been a big fan of the Olsen twins ever since Full House. From then on I had to see every film and television project they did..thats right I've seen it all. Them along with the Mowry twins (Tia and Tamara Mowry) are a big reason why I wish I had a female twin instead of a male lol...but I love him just the same lol.
They are a big inspiration to me because they are billionaire moguls at 25!! They were determined to make a name for themselves and they did. Oh and did I mention they're fashion sense is RIDICULOUS (in a good way of course)!!!

Here's a look at Olsen Fashion through out the years:
